Health professionals face new and evolving challenges, such as ageing populations, personalised healthcare requirements and new regulations, whilst adjusting to financial pressures and ever increasing public expectations. At the same time, health-related technology is advancing at great speed, providing a wide range of new digital solutions. This innovative technology is essential for medical advancement, but it can also create challenges of its own. How do we best harness its true potential? This symposium will help address these challenges and look at the latest technological developments, including management of patient treatments, electronic prescriptions, digital medical imaging, electronic medical records and data security, with a view to improving the quality of healthcare in general, across Europe. Most crucially, this symposium will address how new medical technologies can be used intelligently for the benefit of both the health sector and patients alike, by supporting new healthcare business models, and improving the productivity and management of healthcare systems. This symposium will also provide the knowledge and expertise required for healthcare professionals to successfully procure and implement new technologies, ensuring better value for money and avoiding IT project failures.
