Trucks are less than 5% of all road vehicles but emit around 30% of road transport CO2 emissions in the EU. Also in Germany heavy duty trucks and buses account for 30% of road CO2 emissions and this is projected to grow during the coming decades.
In the light of the EU and Member State 2030 climate targets and COP21, emissions from heavy duty vehicles need to be curbed. Therefore the European Commission announced in its Low Emissions Mobility Strategy to introduce a CO2 standard for trucks within this mandate.
Organised by Transport & Environment and NABU, this event will bring together speakers from the European Commission, the German government, the industry and non-profit organisations to discuss how CO2 standards can help reducing truck CO2 emissions.
The keynote speech will be delivered by Jochen Flasbarth, Secretary of State, German Environment Ministry.
