Recent Government reports have highlighted the potential for using genetic modification and biotechnologies in future sustainable food production systems.The food industry is currently faced with a number of important challenges which include increasing food production, whilst reducing crop inputs such as fertilizers and pesticides.This event will consider whether GM offers potential for food production and the likely developments in the agri-food chain. It will also look at the possibility of the next generation of crops being genetically modified and how this could affect the UK food supply chain. Areas to be covered will include:– An understanding of the latest GM technologies – The advantages and disadvantages of GM in food production – Potential effects on business – Latest regulatory information – Current and future analytical techniques
