Mr. Brufau has a Degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona and was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the Ramon Llull University in Barcelona. He began his professional career at Arthur Andersen, where he became a Partner and Director of Auditing. At the age of 40 he joined “la Caixa” as Deputy Managing Director, and served afterwards as Managing Director (1999-2004). He was also Chairman of the Gas Natural Group (1997-2004). Currently, he is Chairman of Repsol, Vicechairman of Gas Natural Fenosa, and Chairman of the Repsol Foundation. He is also a member of the Board of Acción Empresarial of CEOE, the Asociación Española de Directivos, the Círculo de Economía, Patron of the Fundación Privada Instituto Ildefons Cerdà, CEDE Foundation (Confederación Española de Directivos y Ejecutivos) and Chairman of GLOBALleida.
