European Forum Against Blindness

Brussels
1000 Brussels, Belgium

The European Forum Against Blindness (EFAB) is an independent, multi-stakeholder advocacy platform, and is composed of the European Men’s Health Forum (EMHF), the European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO), and the International Diabetes Federation European Region (IDF Europe).

The group acts as a discussion forum to bring together and activate key stakeholders to increase awareness of eye diseases which can lead to vision loss, and promote the prevention, timely diagnosis and accurate care and intervention to preserve sight.

Our Mission

  • To help raise awareness of preventable blindness in Europe and better inform patients and healthcare professionals about preventable blindness
  • To promote the inclusion of screening, early diagnosis an adequate care and treatment in health policy, as a means to better address preventable blindness, and improve overall health outcomes in all member states
  • To help optimise the patient’s journey to care – working towards earlier screening and timely diagnosis, and tackling patients’ right to adequate treatment, patient safety and choice
