The seven-year LIFE CIRCWASTE project, started in 2016, is coming to an end this year. The project aimed to pilot Finland towards a circular economy and to implement a national waste plan. Its final two-day seminar will showcase the achievements and initiatives of the CIRCWASTE project in the past seven years as well as the opportunities and challenges of the circular economy. At the event, attendees will also have the chance to connect with other circular economy professionals and experts. The seminar will take place in the conference room of the historic building of the Radisson Blu Seaside Hotel, which was once a cheese warehouse built by architect Maunu Siitonen in 1939. The building is a symbol of the functionalism era’s industrial architecture and a fitting venue for the project that advanced the circular economy.  The seminar will start with a Finnish session on circular economy and waste management in Finland, with talks by experts from the Finnish Environment Institute and the Ministry of the Environment, and an award for a circular economy leader. There will be a translator for the morning part. After lunch, there will be three parallel sessions in Finnish only. The second day will be in English and will explore how to measure the circular economy and achieve recycling goals, with lessons from different LIFE projects and Finland.  The event will have presentations by experts from the European Environment Agency, the Finnish Environment Institute, Statistics Finland, and others. The project manager and the ministerial adviser will also give opening and closing remarks. Registration for the event (in-person or online) is open until 20 October 2023.
