"My name is Europe" performance
Danced musical tale
Fables Room.
Starting at and at
"My name is Europe" is a storytelling performance.
A danced story.
A choreographic concert.
An allegory letting the melodies get tangled and mixed with the body and the words.
"My name is Europe" is a sweet moment, an intimate and poetic vision of a myth that has become geopolitical, economic, institutional and concrete.
It is the union of dance and music evoking the union of peoples.
"Je m'appelle Europe" is a duet between the dancer-choreographer, Emilie Camacho, and the concert pianist, Célia Onéto BensaÏd.
These two artists unite to give flesh, voice and sound to a complex, rich and fertile tale, which continues to be written while the piano keys are being touched, while the body is dancing.
"I am called Europe" is the tale that these two women will deliver to us stories, of seduction, love, wars, dreams and peace.
EMILIE CAMACHO
The dancer
A dance and contemporary creation mercenary for more than 20 years, Emilie first trained in classical dance, then in search of more freedom, in contemporary dance.
Since 1999, she has joined major international companies such as the Centre Chorégraphique National de Grenoble, directed by Jean-Claude Gallotta, the Compagnie Blanca Li and the Baryshnikov Art Center in New York.
Curious and eager to experiment, she works with Jean Paul Goude, Stromae, Stéphane Braunschweig the director of the Théâtre de l'Europe / Odéon in Paris, or for the Belgian artist Kasper Vanderberghe.
With her collective Rabbit Research, she writes performances and videos mixing texts, choreographies, and music, dedicated to take live art out of theatres.
CELIA ONETO BENSAÏD
The pianist
Classical pianist trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Celia has won numerous international competitions and prizes, before having fun integrating atypical projects, asking her to invest herself in stage performance and theatrical interpretation.
While being the dedicatee of several works by Camille Pépin (Indra, Early Summer Rain), she records in May 2020, at the recording studio of the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France, works by Maurice Ravel, Philip Glass and Camille Pépin, as part of her second solo disc on the NoMadMusic label.
