You are cordially invited to the roundtable debate: “Re-innovate cancer treatment: Tapping into the potential of re-purposed drugs”, organised by the Anticancer Fund under the auspices of the MEPs Against Cancer group, and kindly hosted by MEP Alojz Peterle and MEP Lieve Wierinck.
Cancer is growing in prevalence putting significant pressure on EU member’s health care expenditures with still important unmet patients’ needs in terms of available treatments.
Europe is well equipped to drive the development of more effective and affordable treatment options, also for cancer. Drug repurposing is one such solution which, to date, is largely unexplored.
It is against this background that a relevant debate will take place at the European Parliament, JAN6Q1, on 27 February 2018 from 17:00-18:30; followed by a networking cocktail reception.
Participants will engage in lively debate about this pathway to more treatment options for cancer patients, including children. Which barriers in adopting drug repurposing as a valuable track in cancer research are holding us back? How can we fund more independent clinical trials in order to tap into this domain that is widely overlooked?
We are looking forward to welcoming you on the day!
Sincerely,
The Anticancer Fund team
