ICAEW's Financial Reporting Faculty is delighted to invite you to a seminar to discuss our recent report, The Effects of Mandatory IFRS Adoption in the EU: A Review of Empirical Research, part of our Information for Better Markets series. The report provides an extensive and objective review of global academic research on the economic impact of IFRS reporting in the EU.Covering 170 research papers, the report is intended to assist interested parties in the highly topical debate on the future of IFRS in the EU by looking at what we can learn from the empirical research about the costs and benefits of implementation to date, addressing issues of transparency, comparability, cost of capital, market liquidity, corporate investment efficiency and cross-border investment.We look forward to hearing your views on the report and the issues raised in it, before we produce a revised and final version of the report in mid-2015.Panellists include:Didier Millerot, Head of Unit (Accounting and Financial Reporting), European CommissionThorsten Sellhorn, Professor of Accounting, LMU MunichBrian Singleton-Green, ICAEW Corporate Reporting ManagerMark Vaessen, Global Head of IFRS, KPMG International  Moderated by Dr Nigel Sleigh Johnson, Head of ICAEW’s Financial Reporting FacultyTopics for discussion may include:What does the research evidence tell us about the overall benefits and costs associated with the introduction of IFRS in the EU?Can the impact of mandatory IFRS application be separated from other relevant policy changes, such as those arising from the Financial Services Action Plan?How useful is empirical research when reviewing the effects of major policy changes?What about the missing evidence?A light lunch will be provided from 12.30 onwards.If you would like to attend this event please RSVP to europe(at)icaew(dot)comThere is no charge for attending but numbers are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
