AK EUROPA, the Brussels Office of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Labour, the ÖGB Europabüro, the Brussels Office of the Austrian Trade Union Federation and the Austrian Chamber of Civil Law Notaries would like to cordially invite you to our panel discussion:Societas Unius Personae (SUP) – a Trojan horse? In April the EU Commission presented its proposal for the European single-member company Societas Unius Personae (SUP), which not only affects companies, start-ups and national standards in corporate law, but also endangers workers’ participation rights. Member States are currently discussing the proposal and the European Parliament has yet to adopt a position. If the proposal were adopted as proposed by the EU Commission, setting up an SUP would be possible with a minimum capital of only 1 Euro. As with letterbox companies, the registered office can be completely independent of the principal place of business in the EU. Effective proof of the identification of an SUP founder is not foreseen.Does the Commission proposal facilitate the activities of SMEs in the single market or does it open up the possibility for abuse and the circumvention of national standards? Would it promote bogus self-employment and letterbox companies, or are these concerns unjustified?Invited to discuss with us are:MEP Heidi HAUTALA, Deputy Chairwoman, The Greens/European Free AllianceDr. Sonja BYDLINSKI, Head of the Department of Business and Corporate Law, Federal Ministry of Justice of the Republic of AustriaThomas BRANDTNER, Head of Unit, General Secretariat of the Council of the European UnionHelmut GAHLEITNER, Expert, Austrian Federal Chamber of LabourModerated by:Hajo FRIEDRICH, Freelance Journalist, Deutsche Handwerks Zeitung (DHZ)The discussion will be held in German with simultaneous translation into English. After the discussion, we would like to invite you to join us for a buffet dinner.
