Trust in the Digital World

The Economics of Trust

This annual, independent, two-day industry conference organized by TDL & EEMA together with hosting partners, the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and City of Vienna, and supported by DG CONNECT (European Commission) and ENISA will focus on public and private trust related to the European Cyber Security Strategy. The format of the event consists of a mixture of practical demonstrations, presentations and panel discussions covering the key challenges, visions and strategies related to the European Cyber Security Strategy. Each panel discussion is organised from three different perspectives: Industry (use case studies), Government & Policy makers, Knowledge/research Institutes. The conference is an indispensable event for those in business, public sector and government who are involved in the policy, security, systems and processes surrounding trust.Last year’s TDW event in Bruxelles, Belgium in 2013, exceeded our expectations in terms of number of attendees. The preparations, management and marketing resulted in 250 attendees and a high quality programme with interesting and dynamic key note speakers. Tracks on trust, identity, Regulation and Legal, European Trust Infrastructure, Global trust perspectives, smart cities and cybercrime where well attended. The programme included a connection with a number of European projects and the involvement of the European Commission to communicate and discuss the European Cyber Security Strategy with industry and knowledge institutes. For the programme of the event in Vienna 2014 we are positioning the event to be the trust event of the future, we recognise that the majority of members will attend the event for dissemination purposes and to strengthen their engagement with TDL / EEMA; additionally it will:Strengthen the interaction between industry, Government & Policy Makers and knowledge institutes.Provide a platform for dissemination of results delivered by the TDL and EEMA ecosystems.Stimulate and refresh the ecosystem with new content from both outside and inside the industry.Provide a platform with impact for sending out messages to influence government and industry.Connect the relevant EU projects to the ecosystem to stimulate dissemination and collaboration.Project our vision, strategy and content to “non-members”. Additionally the Commission is focused on aligning their NIS platform activities to the annual TDW event as the major and only platform for the dissemination of the working group’s results. Accordingly we may assume that the commission wants to address a very large and broad audience. Collaboration between TDL, EEMA and the European Commission enables a mutual benefit to all parties, in that TDL and EEMA provide an independent industry platform which in turn has the capability to influence the European Commission and will strengthen the relationship between all parties.
