Everything European - A Comprehensive Guide to European Food Law - Brussels

Comprehensive coverage of EU food law, including the new provisions of the Food Information Regulation, Article health claims and updates on food additives and flavourings.

Leatherhead’s Brussels-based two-day Everything European course aims to provide delegates with comprehensive coverage of the principles and application of current and upcoming EU food law with indications of some national quirks. Leatherhead’s Regulatory experts will explain to delegates how they can identify, keep up-to-date with and apply relevant legislation as an aid to both new product development and legality of current product ranges.  The course will provide delegates with an opportunity to discuss and comment on the long-awaited Article 13.1 health claims list and other challenging regulatory issues, such as the Food Information Regulation and the new Union lists on food additives and flavourings.   Day 1 introduces delegates to the different European institutions and how they work together to decide and create food policies, key areas of EU food law such as the general principles of food law, food safety and hygiene, crisis management, food improvement agents and novel foods.   Day 2 will focus on how delegates can ensure the acceptability of a food product label according to current and future European rules on food labelling. The mandatory labelling requirements will be explained thoroughly including product name, ingredient listing, allergens and QUID declaration, lot and weight marking, marketing terms and organic foods. Through the discussion of practical examples, delegates will learn about nutrition and health claims and the proposed nutrient profiling.
