ZigBee promises to be the major standard for short-range wireless networks. It is endorsed by the ZigBee Alliance, a consortium with currently around 350 official member companies, including six of the world's top ten semiconductor manufacturers, both as Alliance members and producers of ZigBee silicon.Today, system designers can choose from a large variety of products, which are already available in good quality, with attractive pricing, and mix and match their solutions. However, they will soon find out that the generic approach of IEEE802.15.4 and ZigBee allows not only a good adaptability to the target, but also an extremely large design space with a big amount of design variables. Its major target markets are in smart grid and smart metering, home automation, health care, telecommunication, and retail services.The ZigBee Developers’ Conference is a platform to learn about the actual and future status of the ZigBee development, to get to know hardware and software products, and to get acquainted with the development process.After the great and ongoing success of the European ZigBee Developers’ Conferences in the last years, the ZigBee Alliance will hold their 7th European ZigBee Developers' Conference (EuZDC) on November 6-7, 2013 in Munich (Germany). It is organized and run by the German electronics journal DESIGN&ELEKTRONIK in cooperation with the ELEKTRONIK magazine and the Steinbeis Transfer Center Embedded Design and Networking at the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg.
