Communicating Food Science in Croatia with MAITRE project
On September 17 - 18 MAITRE (Professional Media Training for Food Researchers) is organising a seminar for food and nutrition scientists at the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism (IPTPO), in Porec, Croatia.
MAITRE will allow participants to experience real lessons and practical sessions on how to improve their communication ability to convey the importance of their research to the general public, through the media.Conducted by a professional journalist, the seminar will provide practical and directly applicable advice for dealing with the media in general.Through hands-on sessions, the attendees will learn the concept of a press release, will practice training for short on-camera news announcements, and will rehearse interview situations, such as on camera, on radio, or in panel debates.Funded by the European Commission under theSeventh Framework Programme (FP7), the MAITRE project ultimately aims to contribute to the promotion of food research knowledge in Europe, by improving scientists’ ability to communicate to the media.
