The Hellenic Food Authority in Athens, Greece has been selected for hosting a professisonal media training for food and nutrition researchers on the 29th-30th of November 2012.The Hellenic Food Authority (EFET) sets quality standards that must be met by foods to protect public health and to prevent consumers from fraudulent practises.  It is a public entity supervised by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food and provides a mechanism for consumers to voice complaints.The seminar is organised by MAITRE- Media Actions for the International Training of Researchers, a European project supported by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme, aiming to give food and nutrition research a higher profile in Europe, by providing professional media training for reseachers.The seminar will be held by senior professional journalists and will give the researchers hands-on experience and practical sessions on how to improve their communication ability to convey news and outcomes of their research to the general public. The seminar will give the researchers also the possibility to get into a network of other researchers and science journalists.
