A mechanical engineer by training, Mr. Cooper holds a BA in Engineering from Cambridge University, is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the UK Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and Chairs the Board of Industrial Advisors at Cambridge University Engineering Department. He started his career in the motor industry working on future powertrains for lower emissions, and after 3 years moved to the Petroleum Refininf and Marketing industry, where he now has some 27 years of experience. His previous role was taking the lead for BP’s strategy for compliance with renewables and GHG regulation in European transport fuels. He has also had business leadership roles in aviation fuels and lubricants, transport energu policy engagement, and fuels technology, in the UK and USA. He took up the position of Director General of FuelsEurope and Concawe in April of 2015, joining the Brussels team from BP in London.
