The Language Teaching Centre (SLI) of the University of Freiburg is open year-round and offers intensive and extensive courses in over 20 languages.

There are courses which take place during University terms, focus on vocabulary for speciality areas or prepare students for examinations.

Upon request, courses can be custom designed to offer more flexibility and suit the needs of partner universities or groups.

Small class sizes and intensive support from motivatedand committed instructors lead to a high level of learning success.

Self-study and blended learning are offered in the fully digitalized language laboratories.

All courses are in compliance with international quality standards and are oriented on the Common European Framework of Reference of Languages (CEFR).

This allows the SLI to issue credit points for its courses.

The Language Teaching Centre is an active memberof the European Language Council and of CercleS –the European association of language centres.

It also organizes events and conferences such as the International Conference about Language Policy and Language Teaching.
