IIT is a non-profit, independent organisation active since the 1990s in promoting interculturalism, democratic citizenship and human rights.

It has local, national, cross-border, European and international activities including research, training, capacity-building and support for schools and other education institutions, minority organisations, NGOs, community groups, and public institutions.
