SEMINAR FOR POLICY PRACTICIONERS

Objective:

The aim of this seminar is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and tools for the successful implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. It will also allow them to exchange best practices in the field.

Key topics:

• The UNCRPD: purpose, general principles and obligations, key conceptsMonitoring role of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and a State’s reporting obligation
• Building and implementing European and national disability policies
• How to account for the UNCRPD and include disability issues into the legislative cycle
• Key policy issues in comparative light and exchange of best practices: legal capacity, education,  employment, accessibility e.g.: in the field of transport and ICT

Who should attend?

National civil servants from an EU Member State and those candidate countries and EEA/EFTA countries which have decided to participate in the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme, who are involved in the policy and legislative process related to disabilityLanguages: English and French (simultaneous interpretation)
