Practical Applications of Remote Sensing for Asset Management

The use of aerial surveys to focus on practical applications for water company asset monitoring and inspection.

Aerial surveys offer water companies a new way to improve planning in water management. The images provide previously invisible detail that can be applied to a range of uses in water catchment and asset management. Despite the recent advances in remote sensing technology, its potential has not yet been fully utilised and there are great opportunities for companies to benefit from the increased accuracy in planning, decision making and efficiency that this technology offers. Topics to be discussed on the day include:Detecting invasive/ non-native plant speciesMonitoring & controlling abstraction of waterAirborne Thermal ImagingLicensed Radio TelemetryUltra-high resolution aerial imaging for asset managementRemote sensing technology also has the ability to increase the information available to monitor and detect environmental change, thereby improving decision making in the management of land and water resources.SpeakersAjay Nair and Mohan Gunarathnam, MWH Global David Campbell, APEM LtdPhilip Briscoe, RezetecMax Wade, AECOMBrian Back, Radio Data NetworksJohn Gaffney, Evoqua Water Technologies LtdAndre Jadot, Trimble
