Constructed Wetlands for Water Management & Pollution Control - CWA Annual Conf

Sharing and promoting best practice in the design, implementation & management of constructed wetlands in the wider water environment with an emphasis on direct practical experience, new initiatives, case studies and research.

This year the Constructed Wetland Association’s annual conference will run alongside the European Waste Water Management Conference presenting the opportunity to explore overlapping fields and new areas for collaboration.Natural and constructed wetlands play an important role in the treatment, management and control of water pollution, in the mitigation and treatment of run-off and in the retention of floodwaters.  By integrating these different fields, solutions can frequently deliver additional ecosystem service benefits such as carbon storage, urban cooling, nutrient cycling and recreation amongst others. Innovative design can ensure these systems maximise biodiversity whilst providing blue and green spaces that contribute to human well-being.As in previous years, the conference will continue to share and promote best practice in the design, implementation and management of constructed wetlands in the wider water environment, but this year with an emphasis on direct practical experience, new initiatives, case studies and research.Session ThemesRun-offSewage TreatmentEmerging PollutantsAgricultureThere will not be any field trips this year.  The afternoon of the second day will be devoted instead to a Question and Answer Discussion Forum. We are inviting oral and poster presentations from practitioners, the water industry, regulators, academia, developers, planners and anyone else with relevant experiences to share.Submitting an abstractIf you are interested in presenting a paper or poster at this conference please e-mail franceswoodhead'at'aquaenviro.co.uk with the following:A title of your proposed presentation or posterA brief summary of approximately 150 wordsFull contact details of the presenting author. The deadline for submission of your abstract is 25th April, 2014.    A Prize will be awarded for the best Student Poster.
