He has nearly 10 years experience in outreach including consultancy, organisation development, training, and placement student supervision. Dr Nigel Horan: Reader in Public Health Engineering. Academic background: Environmental engineering and microbiology applied to the problems of wastewater treatment of wastewaters and sludge handling. Particular expertise in: foaming, bulking and filamentous bacteria; nitrification and phosphorus removal; odour managment; sequencing batch reactor technology, and pathogen removal.
