Link16 communication network provides jam-resistant and near real-time secure transfer of tactical data, images, voice and relative navigation information between various command and control centres. Warfighters are able to obtain situational awareness through real-time data exchange that is conducted over a secure network that enables better operational decisions.Other than network design and management, engineers also have to manage the complexity of platform management. With the increasing use of unmanned platforms in the defence arena, systems integration is becoming the highlight in communication network to allow synchronisation and integration of systems for operational supremacy. The future enhancement will require cohesive operation of multiple platforms to support deployed personnel in the battlefields.This course aims to discuss on the concept and standard of Link 16 along with the application of the network design and management methodologies. A discussion on track management and correlation, the future challenges, development and platform integration issues will also be included.
