Latin America has long been regarded by many Europeans as a backwater, and of all the worlds major regions it certainly received the least attention. However, the global financial crisis is currently acting as a catalyst to change such perceptions. Not only is Brazil a key emerging economy, but Latin America as a whole is becoming a new economic powerhouse.
