The EU is a global leader in waterborne transport technology. EU companies are at the forefront of research in areas such as maritime engines, electric shipping and wind-assisted propulsion. The EU Maritime Industrial Strategy and the EU Ports Strategy will adopt measures to maintain this strength, critical for the strategic autonomy of the EU.
