Fossil Free Europe

2016 was the warmest year on record – a remarkable 1.1°C above pre- industrial period temperatures. 2 In 2015 the European Union (EU) signed up to the Paris Agreement, committing to keep global warming “well below 2 degrees” and ideally within 1.5 degrees. 3 This requires a global shift from dirty fossil fuels to zero carbon. To implement the Paris Agreement, this zero carbon goal must be at the heart of energy policy in the EU, and must drive every investment decision.
