Advances in Spatial and Network Modelling for Policymaking - 2nd Edition

Join us on May 2026 in Sevilla for the second edition of this workshop, hosted by the JRC. The call for papers is open until 15 February, 2026.

The workshop aims to promote scientific exchange among researchers, academics, and practitioners working on Spatial Econometrics and Spatial ;It will explore advances in theory, methods, and empirical applications, encouraging dialogue on policy-relevant research and establishing an annual platform for sharing ideas and findings among experts.

Registration to the conference will open after mid-March 2026. Exact date to be confirmed.

Do you want to contribute to the workshop? A call for papers is open until 15 February, ;

We particularly welcome contributions that address, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • public policy evaluation
  • causal identification of treatment effects
  • climate change, environment, and health
  • regional development, innovation, and inequality
  • urban mobility, accessibility and housing
  • twin transitions and global challenges
  • big data and AI 

We welcome submissions from economists and political scientists engaged in research related to the workshop themes. We especially value contributions from junior researchers, recognizing their capacity to bring novel insights and methodological advances to the debate.

Acceptance notification: 15 March, 2026

Registration and further information: Extended abstracts (2,000 words) must be submitted by email (workshop [dot] snapgmail [dot] com (workshop[dot]snap[at]gmail[dot]com)) in PDF format indicating in the subject the name of the workshop.

Attendance is free for presenters, and it includes coffee breaks and lunches. Travel and accommodation expenses for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in need of funds can be covered by the host institution upon request.
