In the face of increasing attacks against cultural property, engaging civil and military stakeholders to protect cultural heritage has never been more vital.
This is why, under the mandate of and in synergy with the UNESCO Culture Conventions, the UNESCO Civil-Military Alliance for the Protection of Cultural Property was launched in 2024 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Hague Convention.
The Alliance aims to enhance the protection of cultural property in peacetime, during armed conflict, occupation, and post-conflict situations by promoting effective cooperation between civil and military ;
The major event will bring together more than 250 participants, including cultural heritage professionals and military personnel from UNESCO Member States and States Parties to the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its two (1954 and 1999) Protocols, as well as representatives of international and non-governmental ;
