You Can’t Manage What You Don’t Measure: Are the ground-breaking new metrics developed by the European Environment Agency (EEA) sufficient to measure progress towards circularity and sustainability of textiles in Europe, or do we need more?

EU Textiles: Measuring Environmental Progress & Circularity Update - Presenting New EU Textile Metrics

The EEA has developed a new set of metrics through its Circularity Metrics Lab Textiles Module to monitor environmental performance and circularity uptake in the textiles sector.

During this session, the EEA will present these metrics, supported by real data, followed by a facilitated discussion with a select group of experts and stakeholders on:

  • The strengths and weaknesses of the metrics
  • Best practices for effective use
  • Strategies for improving data collection and quality, and the role of stakeholders
  • How the metrics can inform target setting and decision-making
  • The potential for additional metrics needed, including those that address social and economic progress

This webinar provides an opportunity to explore these innovative metrics and participate in crucial discussions on the future of
textile sustainability.

With:

  • Mike Schragger, Executive Director, SFA; Director, The Scandinavian Textile Initiative for Climate Action (STICA)
  • Lars Fogh Mortensen, Circular Economy, Consumption & Production Expert, European Environment Agency (EEA)
  • Alice Bah Kuhnke, MEP, Green Party, Sweden
  • Valeria Botta, Acting Sustainability Director, Environmental Coalition on Standards (ECOS)
  • Gillian Foster, Applied Environmental Economist – Circular Economy, Joint Research Centre, European Commission
