On 28 March 2025, Olsztyn will host an EU Local Dialogue organised by Marcin Kuchciński (PL/EPP), Marshal of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship.

The event will bring together local stakeholders to discuss the complicated situation of border regions at the external border of the European Union.

It will be attended by representatives of municipalities and counties from Warmia and Mazury Region.

In the face of the difficult geopolitical situation, Warmia and Mazury Region, as a region with a 200-kilometer border with the Russian Federation, is facing many problems that affect various areas of everyday life.

These challenges must be faced not only by Poland – they concern all regions located on the eastern external border of the EU.

Therefore, in order to emphasize the European perspective, Jacek Protas, Member of the European Parliament, will speak at the event.

As part of the event, the international report “Regio-Silience: Adapting policies to tackle the regional development challenges caused by Russia’s war of aggression on Ukraine” will be presented for the first time.

It presents the experiences of the EU eastern border regions, which are facing the consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, in order to identify new investment opportunities and develop targeted policy recommendations to strengthen the resilience of the regions.

The final outcome of the event will be the signing of a letter of intent on the establishment of a special support instrument for the regions on the border with Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, which will then be handed over to the President of the European Commission.
