Energy renovation for affordable housing in Europe: supporting and learning from local initiatives

In light of the ongoing housing crisis in Europe, energy-efficient building renovation is a key lever for reducing energy costs and increasing the supply of adequate housing.

In collaboration with local authorities and experts from France and Germany, the Franco-German Forum for the Future has identified concrete policy recommendations to support socially just renovations and affordable housing. These measures, which can be found both in French and German, will be at the heart of the session. The local initiatives that inspired them will be presented by their project leaders. They will then be put into perspective in a discussion with key players in energy and housing policy at European level. Hosted by the European Committee of Regions, the event will have simultaneous interpretation in English, German and French.Register here. This event is organised by the Franco-German Forum for the Future, established in 2019 under Article 22 of the Treaty of Aachen. Operating under the mandate of the French and German governments, it aims to foster social and ecological transformation in both countries by bringing together relevant stakeholders and formulating policy recommendations.Contact: Deborah Ferreira
