The launch will take place on 21 March 2025 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, and at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
These high-level events will serve as a platform for dialogue and action regarding the state of the world’s mountains and glaciers and their impacts on global water security, communities, and ecosystems.
In the context of this year's International Year of Glaciers' Preservation, the 2025 United Nations World Water Development Report, Mountains and glaciers: Water towers, highlights the importance of mountain waters for societies, economies and the environment, with a focus on the impacts of the rapidly changing mountain cryosphere.
The event will bring together, policymakers and scientists, to discuss the importance of glaciers in global water systems, their impact on ecosystems and human societies, and to drive concerted action to protect water supplies for future generation.
