In the context of the International Women's Day and in line with the For more women in politics initiative, the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) is organising the conference Women in leadership: Empowering women in challenging times on Wednesday 5 March 2025, from 14.
00 to 17.
00 (CET).
Women’s increasing participation in politics and business is a necessary resource for Europe’s competitiveness, cohesion and democracy.
However, according to indicators such as the Gender Equality Index 2024 of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), women are still underrepresented at many levels.
As the closest link with the citizens, Europe's regions and cities can offer invaluable experiences when it comes to fostering gender equality.
We want to promote a fresh perspective on women’s empowerment and societal progress, also in view of the roadmap to be presented by the European Commission that will feed into the EU Gender Equality Strategy post-2025.
This conference aims to: Explore the challenges and opportunities for gender equality Take stock of what was done, what is working and what needs to change Look ahead to make sure that all institutional and other actors do their part in closing the gender gap and mainstreaming gender equality at European and regional level For more details please consult the draft agenda below.
Registrations are open until 3 March 2025, end of business.
Please note that registration is compulsory to access the building for anyone who doesn't have an EU badge .
We look forward to welcoming you in the audience! This hybrid event will take place in-person at the CoR in Brussels (room JDE 51, Jacques Delors building, Rue Belliard 99-101, 1040 Brussels) and online.
