Following a successful joint ETIP event on P2X, a second P2X webinar has been organised by ETIP PV, ETIP Wind, and ETIP Ocean – this time focusing on energy islands.
The webinar’s theme is on deployment, notably “Are energy islands the first place wind, PV, and P2X come together?”.
Several man-made floating “energy islands” are being built or in planning.
Belgium is leading with the Princess Elisabeth Island, and Denmark plans two islands, one in Bornholm, the other in the North Sea.
Princess Elisabeth and Bornholm mention only the generation of electricity from wind and the use of the island as a hub to send or receive electricity to/from other countries, but the North Sea island may include P2X technology.
The Danish Energy Agency writes, “Technologies such as Power-to-X and electricity storage are not yet sufficiently mature to allow us to say with certainty how such technology and equipment can be deployed on the islands…”.
This event seeks to take a closer look at energy islands, both those in development or those which are up and coming, and to determine whether P2X can be feasibly deployed on an energy islands.
In particular, what are the R&D challenges which come from deploying P2X on energy islands?
The event will be held 20 February 2025, from to CET.
