AI has become an area of intense economic competition and geopolitical rivalry – but it also poses global challenges such as how to manage the potential social and economic disruption which AI may cause, and how to ensure the global South does not get left behind. Despite different political systems and values, intergovernmental co-operation and knowledge sharing are crucial to help ensure AI develops in an inclusive way.
