EASA Certification Roadmap on H2 — International Workshop 2024

On the path toward zero emissions in aviation, the exploration of the use of Hydrogen is acquiring growing relevance in recent years.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has been engaging in hydrogen platforms through specific pre-application contracts (PACs), innovation partnership contracts (IPCs), and research projects.

It is also involved in several important programmes, e.

g.

the European Commission’s Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA), by taking over the leadership of working groups on regulations and standards.

EASA supports the awarded Project Consortium under the Clean Aviation Programme by advising on the certifiability of new innovative solutions and by creating enablers for certification.

To prepare for the certification of hydrogen technologies in aviation, EASA has launched a Roadmap to define the scope and timelines of such certification, identify the sufficiency of, or gaps in, certification specifications (CSs), and create a consolidated action plan for the Certification Directorate in relation to H2 technology in aviation product applications.

The “EASA Certification Roadmap on H2 — International Workshop” to be hosted by EASA on December 17, 2024, is an opportunity to discuss the Roadmap with industry stakeholders and aviation authorities and obtain valuable feedback, with special focus on the technology modules, the identified gaps in the current CSs, the timeline for the technology maturation and readiness, harmonisation challenges, and the crucial role of industry manufacturers and Standards Developing Organisations (SDOs).

Additional information will be posted at a later stage.

Attendance will be by EASA invitation only (no registration possible).
