Addressing urgent global challenges such as climate disruption, biodiversity loss, increasing natural and human-made disasters, and rising inequalities requires a more inclusive and interdisciplinary scientific approach to ;On 25 August 2023, the United Nations General Assembly declared the period 2024-2033 as the “International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable ; This Decade offers a unique opportunity for humanity to fully harness the power of science in advancing sustainable development and securing a safe and prosperous future for everyone.
UN Member States and all relevant stakeholders are urged to actively back the Decade, with UNESCO designated to lead its aim of the information session is to introduce the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024-2033) to UNESCO Member States and discuss its implementation and governing structure.
Following the Secretariat's presentation, the floor will be given to Member States for questions and answers.
