Strictly protected areas in the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030

Organised in the framework of the Natura 2000 Biogeographical seminar process, the event intends to provide clarification on the target for “strictly protected areas” in the EU Biodiversity Strategy.

This EU-level event on the concept of “strict protection” in the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 is planned in the frame of target in that Strategy for achieving, by 2030, a coverage of 30% of protected areas, both on land and at sea, of which one third (10%) should become strictly protected by 2030.

  Presentations and discussions will focus on strictly protected areas on land (freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems).

Whereas the introductory plenary session in the afternoon of 12th of November, will be in a hybrid mode, the second day of the event, on 13th of November, it will be in-person only and will include further presentations, break-out sessions and a concluding plenary.
