The Congress of European Farmers represents a key moment for Copa and Cogeca and its members, its cooperatives and farmers’ organisations from across the EU.
Since 2005, the European Farmers’ Congress has been organised every two years in a different country in partnership with Copa and Cogeca local members.
We look forward to welcoming all the expected delegates and guests in Bucharest in October 2024!
The centre of this year’s Congress discussions will explore the main challenges impacting on the agricultural sector such as the enlargement of the Union its financing and future agricultural support policies.
These discussions framed by the outcome of the European elections and strategic dialogue will consider not only the sustainability questions, but also the role of research and innovation to provide much needed solutions for the future agriculture />
All this also takes into consideration the cumulative impacts of current the geopolitical crisis, food inflation, administrative and legislative burden as well as the extreme weather events farmers have been facing.
These effects continue to affect farmers and cooperatives economic sustainability and leading to the current social unrest.
Ensuring that the EU agriculture and forestry sector have a strategic role in shaping future EU policies, that contribute to the viability of rural areas, address food availability, affordability and accessibility, whilst tacking climate change is fundamental to secure its resilience and competitiveness.
