On 7 October 2024, the European Committee of the Regions will publish the fifth edition of its EU Annual Report on the State of Regions and Cities, as a snapshot of the most pressing challenges faced by regions and cities across Europe, as well as solutions from the ground to inform policy decisions for Europe's future.

The President of the European Committee of the Regions, Vasco Alves Cordeiro, will deliver his address on the State of Regions and Cities, based on the Annual Report, during the opening of the European Week of Regions and Cities.

​Just a few months after the European Elections and during the renewal of the European institutions, the EU Annual Report on the State of Regions and Cities will take stock of the situation across Europe's territories and provide insights and new findings on how regions and cities see the climate crisis and the green transition, the future EU enlargement and investments, and the future of rural areas and cohesion. It will show the pivotal role played by regions and cities for Europe's most pressing and long-term transformations and their power to deliver a stronger, fairer and more resilient Europe.
