Before adopting a new strategic direction, and against the background of unprecedented economic challenges in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) aim to discuss their goals and priorities for the decade to come with a variety of key stakeholder representatives.
Why?
Because a well-functioning, future-proof European standardization system offers a much-needed strategic lever for the EU’s economic recovery and acts as a catalyst for the twin green and digital transition.
For Europe to address the present economic challenges and achieve long-term resilience in a sustainable manner, a collective effort is needed to realize the full strategic potential of standardization and, in doing so, strengthen the Single Market.
Making the best use of the public-private partnership that is at the heart of the system will be key in this regard.
This Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue therefore aims to contribute to a joint vision and way forward among key stakeholders.
The soon-to-be adopted CEN and CENELEC Strategy 2030 will provide a framework for a discussion on the future of European standardization, while stakeholder inputs will be used to further inform and enrich our strategic planning.
